Is SegWit2x Going to be Resurrected?
Is SegWit2x going to be resurrected? While many reports are claiming that SegWit2x is completely dead, there are still talks that the fork may occur. While the details are unknown, the Bitcoin2x website is stating that plans for the fork are still being considered.
People are still unsure at this time if major issues with the initial SegWit2x will be fixed such as the lack of replay protection. Bitcoin2x’s site stated a “different replay protection addition” will be implemented. This is extremely vague and many different interpretations are being floated around at this time. Many are curious to see if any further clarification will be given in the next few weeks along with further updates.
Another major question people have been asking is who would be behind this new update as most of the previous advocates have lost interest after the initial failure. If SegWit2x is launched with several improvements to the original then this would be quite beneficial for Bitcoin. This would bring an upgrade to the original SegWit on Bitcoin’s main blockchain which is essential to keep companies who have considered moving to another crypto.
With all the uncertainty as of late with Bitcoin, many people have been talking about possible alternatives. As Bitcoin Cash is the only other major crypto with the Bitcoin name, it has been a popular option for investors looking to move despite it being more limited than Bitcoin. It has been seeing strong growth lately but there is uncertainty if it can continue this trend due to much of its trading volume coming from the failures of supporters for Bitcoin Classic and Bitcoin XT forks. If Bitcoin Cash can not continue its growth and Bitcoin continues to be under speculation then this could open up opportunities for other altcoins as well.
